Nature and creatures of every shape and size were my first muses. As a child in my parents’ tiny city garden, I’d catalog everything in my mind, wishing I could shrink to explore closer. At 9, an egg-shaped film camera found its way into my hands. My love for tiny worlds grew bigger.

Many moons later, not much has changed. I still roam with my camera, looking for what calls to be noticed. Back in my studio, I love to relive those moments through mixed media, from watercolors, graphite, colored pencils, to ink pens, depending on the mood.

The simplicity of day-to-day life is my inspiration. I make pieces to hold, to look at, and share with those we deeply care about. My offering: an appreciation for the small, often overlooked moments, captured in hand-made, intentional images.

Special Mention to:

  • My husband. For cooking delicious, nutritious meals every single week on his free days (!), for his uncommon work ethic, for believing in me when I struggle to believe in myself, and ultimately, for loving me no matter what.
  • My multi-skilled brother. The only one who can make me laugh real hard. 4 years my junior, and yet he uncovered the Santa myth before me. He still is my North Star.
  • My sister-from-another-country friend, C. Caring and generous, never afraid to speak her mind, a rare quality indeed. I treasure her deeply.
  • My sister-from-another-mother friend, D. A multi-versed artist who gets me, creatively and personally, like no one else.
  • My dear, talented friends J. and L. More than two years of my anxious ranting, and they’ve never once told me to quit. On their way to saintness.
  • The generous YouTubers who teach me and encourage me every day.
  • All the online indie artists out there who fight their daily battle against big corporations, social media haters and ever-changing algorithms. Keep it up!
  • All the creatives (= people) who want to use non-verbal ways of expressing themselves but they are afraid of doing so. I see you. Let's do it together.
  • You. Both first-timers and affectionate supporters.

Be well, Silvana
